There are quite a few quality instructionals out there today. The work-out types are generally the minority of what’s available. However they are the ones most commonly available at local retail chains like Target, Wal-mart, Barnes & Nobel, Borders, etc… If you want the quality instruction you should try looking for a bellydance vendor such as Dahlal (http://www.dahlal.com). She carries a lot of different intructional DVDs. You may also want to check out the DVD’s from IAMED (International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance) (http://www.bellydance.org). Personally, if your at the beginners level I’d recommend taking live lessons if your not already doing so as they are far more productive than using a video. Secondly, for a beginner I would highly recommend the Presicion Motion Workout by Suzanna DelVecchio. She breaks down the movements very slowly and quite well. Additionally she covers weight changes and posture issues that are often not addressed in other videos.
Here’s some samples of her videos from youtube, there are three video’s in the Precision Motion Workout Series the second and third are for intermediate and advanced dancers though:
    First video (Precision Motion Workout)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XeRBVFGlC8
Second Video (Precision Motion Workout: Dynamic Combinations)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e4mh0VRiiQ
Third Video (Precision Motion Workout: Lock, Roll, and Flutter)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoNBwTy4IFE
The first video teaches most of the moves she uses throughout the series but each of the following videos have movements that were not previously taught. she breaks them down very well even in the more advanced videos. The second video focuses on combinations using the movements learned in the first video and any moves taught at the beginning of the second video. The third build on the first two videos as well. Of course if your looking to learn a specific style such as Egyptian, Lebanese, Turkish, American Tribal Style, or American Nightclub/Cabaret then you’ll have to look for ones in those particular styles. I would have different reccomendations for those looking to learn specific styles but the videos mentioned above are good all-purpose ones. Specific style DVDs can be found both at IAMED and Dahlal. If you want further reccomendations you can contact me through my website.
